Those precious 25 seconds can be short and sweet or messy and chaotic, so how can we optimize them? The perfect elevator pitch must be unique, informative, and memorable. Let’s get started.
1. Say hello.
Before rushing into your qualifications and achievements, take a breath and say hello. Giving a proper greeting and establishing your own basics gives you time to compose and collect.
Ex: hello! My name is full name. I am currently a student/employee at school/company.
2. Summarize.
Take the latest project, the most notable internship, or your favorite experience and share that. Don’t feel like you have to share your most impressive experience, talk about the one you are most passionate and proud of.
Ex: Lately I have been working on …. What is really great about it is that I am able to…. My favorite part is…
3. Why?
So, you can do it all, but why? What drives you? What motivates you? Adding a personal touch shows that you are more than just a resume, you have a story and strong passion to grow and seize those new opportunities.
Ex: Above all else, I really value… Being able to… is so valuable to me and essential in any job.
3. Any last words?
Make sure to wrap up with a call to action. The elevator pitch isn’t just a self-promo, it’s a chance to create a new network. Don’t be afraid to ask for contact info or a LinkedIn connection. You want to make sure to keep the conversation going!
Ex: I would love to connect with you on LinkedIn and possibly ask you more questions about career path / opportunities / advice. Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you! Here are some great videos that summarize the tips above!

Besides using an elevator pitch, in an elevator ( and on the Enrole App ), where can you share your story? When you meet new people at career fairs, networking events, or even in the bio of your professional profile.
